Bollywood dreams!

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

On Saturday I completed my first paid dance job...as a dancer in the
Bollywood film, Salaam E Ishq. It was a crazy few days that began
before the sun rose and continued until the sun set, come rain, sun or
wind!

We danced in Trafalgar Square, Oxford, the Millennium Bridge, and in
front of the Tate Modern and St. Paul's. Crowds gathered to watch,
drawn by the catchy Indian pop blasted out of loud speakers, and by
the presence of Miss World 2005 and India's Tom Cruise. We had curry
for lunch, and wore scratchy, yet beautiful costumes.

Altogether, it was a great experience, and nice for the purse!

Oh and it releases in India in November and January here, in case you wondered!

21 and a 2:1

Tuesday, June 13, 2006

Yesterday was my 21st birthday, and apparently (according to the
Metro) the hottest June 12th on record. I had a lovely day, with lots
of presents, cards, cakes and balloons. The most exciting gift was
being told over the phone in the ticket queue at Kings Cross that I
got a 'Upper Second Class' Honours Degree. Now that's a definite date
with the Duke of Kent on Friday, brillo!

The final curtain!

Wednesday, May 17, 2006

Yesterday afternoon I completed my final exam ever, ever, ever...

I am no longer a student, and after 16 years, am finally free from
education. It's so beautiful! My sympathies go out to the majority
of my school friends who have a least another year of studying. I
shall try not to gloat...um maybe not...!

I never again have to here the words, 'You may now turn over the
paper', or have to spend Sundays slogging over irritating essays.

However, now I have to grow up, find a job, pay council tax, not steal
anything, and will slowly experience the brain mushing process. Ouch!

Maybe I shall read.. or watch Big Brother!

Expensive luck

Monday, April 03, 2006

As I was doing my diss this morning, i small head passed the window.
I knew exactly who it was going to be...a traveller (that's the PC
term, right?). So, my Mum answered the door and was told her life
story (my Mother's that is!), and how she should have been a teacher
etc. Very weird.

Then came the crucial traveller part, the 'sale'...'could I show you
what I've got in my basket?'. My mother being a kind lady did so, and
was promptly told that the lavender or something was £10! After,
saying that was too much, the gypsy (I shall now call her) said 'Oh,
you can have some 'crystals' for £5'! Mummy proceeded to say again
that that was too much.

In the end Mum said she'd give her a quid, for nothing, eg.good luck!

A paint in the arse

Thursday, March 30, 2006

Just thought I would share my frustration with the world of blog, and
consequently my computer geek friends (no offence)...

PAINT IS BLOODY IRRITATING!

I used to think this when I once played half happily on the program to
entertain myself on my Dad's (that's right!) computer. However, I am
now faced with creating my dance analysis, the basis for my
dissertation, with paint. This was my tutor's suggestion I must add.
Annotating dance is not easy at the best of time, without the problems
of a cartoon-like rubber and a stupid curve tool.

Phew! I feel slightly better. Off to more floor plans and stick figures...

CSM

I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the 'Hannah possy' who
supported me on Friday. I have to say that I was (hold your nose)
really touched that you came your various distances, from varying
countries, to see me prancing around!

It was an eventful week, including instances of slitting my right
bottom cheek open on a theatre chair, crap London chish and fips,
interesting costumes, long bus journeys, kievs, landing on another
dancers foot, wonderful flowers, dough balls, curry-curry and nice
chish and fips.

I have to say the best part was the arrival of a very speshcal person
at about 1.15 Thursday night. It wouldn't have been the same without
you there. Thank you and it's only 24 sleeps now! xxx

The heat is on

So, after the audition, we wondered off to our new found hobby...Hot Bikram Yoga. This is basically yoga in a steam room, getting into positions such as the 'tree' and 'rabbit'. There is apparently only 7 studios in the country, so we 'must feel privileged' Johnny our 'strict' teacher said last night. I wasn't very grateful to be focusing on the sweat running of the man in front! I suppose I can't complain for £10 for 10 sessions (introductory price).

Off again tonight. I hope it's not Johnny again, with his half-naked wearing boxers body. You're supposed to wear shorts, for goodness sakes!

Fame!

On Monday my friend and I went to a P&O cruise audition. This was only for experience purposes, as of course we want to finish our degrees!

On arriving there were almost 100 girls in a tiny basement changing room, all trying to look like Britney or Christina. Clone city if you ask me.

The audition was like a cattle market, with many a cow throwing their leg far to high, right into my friend's arm! The two routines that we had to learn were first the well known (apparently) 'Toxic' dance followed by, and you've guest it...FAME! All plonked out on a grand piano, I might add. Classic.

Although neither of us were chosen to float off around the Mediterranean, the experience was worthwhile, and I learnt that Miss Britney's music can be made Classical!
